We have moved back to our roots. Both of us were raised in this valley, and in fact we have been friends since we were 8 years old.....almost 60 years. Things have changed a great deal here in the nearly thirty years we have been gone, but it still is where our childhood friends live as well as all three of my siblings.
Building a new house is definitely an exciting time. So many possibilities. Making decisions on the house plan, choosing colors for walls, figuring out how to place all of the furniture in my new studio, all have my head swirling.
And yet, I long most of all to have my hands in fabric and not in concrete. So this afternoon, I will load a quilt on my longarm. And then perhaps I will find some time to return to one of my many projects that have been put on hold since our move in August.
I belong to a local group called TARTS. That is short for textile artists. Every month we are given a kit with a new technique. We get everything we need for making a small project. This month's technique is variations on making hand made paper. In our kit: two packages of tissues, glue, a sampling of tissue papers, foam sheets for use as molds, glue and a foam brush. I just got the kit yesterday, but if I don't get at least a start on it, all of a sudden it will be November, and then I will be scrambling to have a little show and tell for the next get together.
This group is sponsored by In Good Company which you may have seen advertised in Cloth Paper Scissors or Quilting Arts. Learn more about TARTS. It's worth the time to go see what they are up to. They post pictures of some of the current work, and you just might see some of my pieces there, although they are not identified.
This is my new mail box. I couldn't resist a little bit of tangling on it. Unfortunately, this side is blocked by the mailbox next to it. Still, I know it is there, and that is fun.
So, we are off and running again on a new house. A time to dream and scheme; exhausting and exhilarating at the same time.
Save time for creating. Dabble in a little art project. Surround yourself with those things that bring joy and beauty into your life.
Ta Ta for now,
Peggy
